Remembering the Fallen on Memorial Day

“Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.” – Unknown

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Because of their courage, we are able to enjoy the freedoms we hold dear.

To the families who carry the weight of that loss each day—please know their sacrifice was not in vain. We remember them. We honor them. And we are forever grateful.

Brown Announces More than $6.2 Million in State Grants for Local Projects

I’m excited to share that more than $6.2 million in state grant funding has been awarded to support a wide range of important local projects throughout the 40th District.

These investments will help strengthen our infrastructure, improve public safety, and enhance the quality of life throughout our community. These projects include upgrades to emergency services, local road improvements, support for our parks, nonprofits, and municipal projects.

I’m proud to work side by side with our local officials, first responders, nonprofit leaders, and community partners to help secure this funding. These projects reflect what can be accomplished with collaboration at every level.

This funding comes through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Local Share Account (LSA) program, which is supported by gaming revenues and dedicated to advancing projects that serve the public interest in eligible counties across Pennsylvania.

RT-80 Safety Repairs Scheduled

If you’ve traveled eastbound on RT80 in Tannersville, you may have noticed the rough and unsafe transition onto the bridge. I heard your concerns and worked with PennDOT to get it addressed.

Repairs are scheduled to begin mid-June.

Roadwork is never convenient, but this fix will lead to a smoother and safer drive for everyone. Thank you for your patience as this important safety improvement gets underway.

Senate Votes to Improve Communication About School Safety Issues

To empower parents and increase transparency, the Senate passed legislation to improve reporting requirements about potentially dangerous situations at schools.

Senate Bill 246 would require parental and employee notification when there is a weapon on any school property that violates its weapons policy, as well as when there are cases of harassment and bullying. It would apply to public, non-public and private schools. Current law does not require school districts to inform parents about incidents when a weapon is brought onto school grounds or to related activities.

The bill is part of a larger Senate initiative to empower families and foster safe communities. It moves to the House of Representatives for consideration.

Pocono Township Recognized for Local Government Excellence

I’m proud to share that Pocono Township has been honored by the Governor’s Center for Local Government Services and the Department of Community and Economic Development with the 2025 Local Government Excellence Award for Promoting Community and Economic Revitalization.

This award is a testament to the hard work, vision, and dedication of our local leaders and community members who continue to invest in Pocono Township’s future.

Congratulations to everyone involved in earning this well-deserved recognition!

Celebrating Women in Philanthropy and Community Impact in Wayne County

I had the privilege of joining a room full of compassionate, driven women at the Women in Philanthropy (WIP) – Wayne County Grant Celebration held at The Bodhi Tree Art School and Studio in Honesdale.

It was an inspiring evening, as over $14,500 in grants were awarded to local nonprofits making a real difference in our communities. I’m so grateful for the incredible work being done by organizations like the Lackawanna Sanctuary Foundation, Raise Your Hearts, The Cooperage Project, Wayne County YMCA, Children’s Service Center, and Farm Arts Collective—each of whom received well-deserved support through this generous effort.

A special thank you to The Mustard Seed Catering for the delicious food and to the entire WIP team for creating such a meaningful event.

If you’re interested in learning more or getting involved with the Wayne Women in Philanthropy group, I encourage you to reach out at info@Waynefoundation.org.

Together, we can continue building stronger, more connected communities.
