On Thursday, Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m., speakers will focus on available loan programs, if there are costs not showing on the bill that must be paid and more.

How Pennsylvanians with Disabilities Can Benefit from PA ABLE

PA ABLE gives individuals with disabilities a way to save money for the future without impacting important benefits like Medical Assistance (Medicaid) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Tax benefits for saving with PA ABLE include:

  • Contributions are deductible from PA state income taxes.
  • Earnings and contributions grow tax-free.
  • No taxes are owed for qualified withdrawals.
  • Accounts aren’t subject to the state inheritance tax.

PA ABLE accounts can be used to pay for a wide variety of disability-related expenses including rent, groceries, health care, vehicle adaptations, assistive technology and more. Treasurer Stacy Garrity and PA ABLE professionals are hosting free webinars on how to start saving:

Notify PennDOT of New Car Insurance

More than 15,000 PA vehicle registrations are suspended monthly because drivers canceled or switched car insurance and forgot to provide proof of new insurance to the Pennsylvania Dept of Transportation. Be sure to remember to report new insurance info here.

I am pleased to co-sponsor Senate Bill 990, which would require an insurer to notify PennDOT when a driver acquires a new insurance policy, just as they are required to notify PennDOT when a motor vehicle insurance policy is cancelled.

Complimentary Notary Services

As a reminder, my office offers complimentary notary services. This week, Roxana from my office was sworn in as a public notary.

My office can assist with POA’s, Wills and other documentation that needs a notary. Roxana can also notarize documents in Spanish as well!

The only document we cannot notarize is a vehicle title (as this requires a special authorization through a Title and Tag License).

Feel free to call my office with any questions and Kristine or Roxana will be happy to notarize your documents in the future.

Congratulations to Jack Dunlap!

I was thrilled to celebrate another outstanding achievement from Troop 89! Congratulations to Jack Dunlap on earning the rank of Eagle Scout with his incredible outdoor classroom project for Clearview Elementary. Jack’s dedication to creating a positive impact in our community is truly inspiring, and I’m excited to see him continue his journey in environmental resource management and sustainable agriculture.

A special shoutout to his parents, Matt and Megan, who have been vital to Troop 89 for many years. Their commitment to shaping our youth into responsible and caring individuals through scouting is deeply appreciated. Congratulations, Jack, and thank you to the Dunlap family for your contributions to our community!

National Night Out

It was a pleasure to attend National Night Out events in Archbald, A Pocono Country Place, while my staff attended in Moscow. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with so many of you, celebrate our shared commitment to safety, and recognize the vital work of our local law enforcement. Thank you to everyone who came out to support these important events.
