Brown Receives Healthcare Trailblazer Award

Sen. Rosemary Brown is awarded a 2026 Trailblazer in Healthcare award, along with Rep. Ann Flood and Rep. Gina Curry.

What an honor to be recognized by City & State Pennsylvania as a 2026 Trailblazer in Healthcare  for my work to expand access to maternal healthcare across Pennsylvania.

This year, my midwifery modernization legislation was signed into law, which updates licensure requirements for certified midwives, improves collaboration with physicians, and expands prescription authority in certain circumstances, including the treatment of substance use disorders. These updates will help ensure women and families have access to safe, high-quality care throughout pregnancy and postpartum recovery.

The law also aims to address healthcare shortages in rural and underserved communities by expanding the number of trained professionals available to provide maternal care services.

Thank you to City & State Pennsylvania for this recognition and congratulations to all the honorees, including Rep Ann Flood and Rep Gina Curry, with whom I serve on the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Women. Their important work in healthcare was also recognized this week.

Brown Fights Against Data Center Development

As a reminder, I’m the ONLY legislator in Harrisburg to have initiated a vote on a three-year statewide moratorium on data center development.

During a Senate Local Government Committee meeting, I offered an amendment to gut and replace Senate Bill 1345 with the moratorium language Senator Katie Muth and I sponsor in Senate Bill 1359.

Honoring Polycystic Kidney Disease Month

Screenshot of vimeo video of Sen. Brown's remarks on Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Month in Pennsylvania

This week in Harrisburg, I introduced Senate Resolution 365, designating September 2026 as Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Month in Pennsylvania.

This is a cause that hits close to home for me. Several members of my family have been impacted by PKD and, thankfully, received successful kidney transplants from fellow family members.

PKD is a chronic genetic disease that causes fluid-filled cysts to develop in the kidneys and can lead to serious complications, including kidney failure. I’m proud to bring this resolution forward in honor of the many Pennsylvanians impacted by PKD, including members of my own family. I hope it helps shine a light on this disease and encourages greater awareness, research and access to care.

I was proud to offer Sonya, and her son Kelly Lewis, a Citation from the Senate of Pennsylvania for this momentous occasion!
