Brown, Secretary Carroll Announce Route 33 Safety ImprovementsI am excited to announce that our community will see a major safety upgrade along Route 33 in Monroe County. I truly grateful to work alongside the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Secretary Mike Carroll and Eileen Miller to announce this major improvement in our region. This $13.2 million investment will extend the concrete median from Lower Cherry Valley Road to the Sciota Interchange, strengthening safety along this heavily traveled corridor. This project continues the work I have undertaken alongside Eileen Miller, who tragically lost her son, Paul Miller Jr., when a distracted tractor-trailer driver crossed the median on Route 33 and struck his vehicle. Extending the concrete barrier is a critical step toward preventing similar tragedies and protecting families in our community. This project is expected to go out for bid in Fall of 2026. Brown Launches I-80 FAQAs many of you are aware, the I-80 Expansion Project has been a topic of discussion in our region for several years. With final design plans now in motion and construction approaching, I believe it’s important to provide a clear, factual overview of what to expect and why this project is necessary, and where we go from here. For your convenience, I have compiled an I-80 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page on my website. If you would like to visit our FAQ and learn more about the ongoing I-80 construction, you can do so here. As this investment moves forward, I will continue to keep you informed. If you want more information on this project, you can watch an episode of my legislative report with Transportation Secretary Mike Carroll. Thank You All for a Successful Town HallThank you to the 13,000+ constituents who tuned in to my telephone townhall! It was a pleasure to speak directly with so many of you from the comfort of your own home. We covered a lot of issues – from school property taxes, to energy, to local government, and data centers – these conversations are so valuable in my work for you. I truly appreciate everyone’s professionalism and engagement on these issues. I look forward to my next townhall on May 20th. You can learn more at SenatorBrown40.com/access-live. Special Congratulations to:
Thank you for being truly good for our community! Visiting Lakeland Elementary Mayfield CampusI joined Representative Kyle Mullins earlier this week to visit the Lakeland Elementary Mayfield Campus and meet so many amazing students and staff! From class to class, it was so heartwarming to talk with all the students and hear what they have to say about their school. Representative Mullins and I were both a part of an effort to bring back improvement funding for the district as well, to construct new drop ceilings in all classrooms. We even got to visit Teacher of the Month, Mrs. Jablonowski and her amazing students! Special thank you to Superintendent Wyandt, Principal Sullivan, all the staff and students who made our visit so special! Meet, Brian! Owner of the Jiva Java Cafe in BartonsvilleToday, I had the pleasure of stopping by one of my favorite local spots near the office – the Jive Java Café. My staff, Mariclare and I treated ourselves to a delicious raspberry chocolate latte… absolutely wonderful! Pictured is Brian, the kind and welcoming owner. Be sure to stop by if you’re in the area at 3427 PA-611.
