HARRISBURG – As the 2023-24 legislative session concludes, Sen. Rosemary M. Brown (R-40) is proud to reflect on a highly productive session marked by the enactment of six bills into law. Out of the 155 new laws passed by the Pennsylvania legislature this session, Brown was one of Harrisburg’s most productive lawmakers, advancing legislation that strengthens local governance, promotes public safety and supports vulnerable populations.
“This session has been one of partnership and productivity,” said Brown. “Every bill I introduced and passed came from a commitment to our district’s values, bipartisan cooperation and a focus on practical, good-government solutions that Pennsylvanians can rely on.”
The six new laws enacted from Brown’s legislation include:
- Act No. 14 of 2024 (Senate Bill 945) incorporated the County Code (Act 154 of 2018) into Title 16 (Counties) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes. Enacted on May 8, 2024.
- Act No. 18 of 2024 (Senate Bill 37) amended Title 75 to prohibit the use of interactive mobile devices while driving, reinforcing Pennsylvania’s commitment to road safety. Enacted on June 5, 2024.
- Act No. 111 of 2024 (Senate Bill 840) established the Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and Related Disorders Office and the corresponding advisory committee. This act represents significant progress in supporting Pennsylvanians affected by Alzheimer’s and other related disorders. Enacted on Oct. 16, 2024.
- Act No. 139 of 2024 (Senate Bill 1132), Act No. 140 of 2024 (Senate Bill 1133), and Act No. 141 of 2024 (Senate Bill 1134) amended the First Class Township Code, Second Class Township Code, and Borough and Incorporated Towns Code, respectively. These measures provide our local governments, emergency medical service providers and fire companies with greater flexibility to meet community needs. Enacted on Oct. 31, 2024.
“These initiatives are a testament to what bipartisan, thoughtful leadership can achieve,” said Brown. “Whether it’s strengthening our public safety laws, empowering our local governments or addressing the needs of our aging population, these new laws were crafted to serve our communities today and into the future.”
Brown extends her appreciation to her colleagues across the aisle and the many community members who contributed their voices and insights to shape these policies. With this strong foundation, Brown remains focused on building upon this momentum to deliver continued results for the 40th District and all Pennsylvanians.
