Brown’s “Residents First” Package Featured by City & State PACity and State PA Magazine highlighted my voice in Harrisburg on Data Centers and my “Residents First” legislative package. This article highlights the importance of putting residents first by ensuring transparency, proper planning, and accountability before large-scale projects move forward in our region. You can hear my comments during the bill’s passage. As a former college athlete, I know the value of fair competition and the life lessons sports teach – leadership, teamwork, and perseverance. Every athlete deserves a level playing field. This bill protects opportunities for biological women and girls in K-12 and college sports, upholding the intent of Title IX. The bill now heads to the House of Representatives. Brown’s Bill to Expand Nursing Education and Relieve Workforce Shortage Passes SenateI’m proud to share that the Senate has passed my legislation to help address Pennsylvania’s nursing shortage by getting to the root of the problem, why qualified students are being turned away from nursing programs. Right now, many schools simply don’t have the space, faculty, or resources to accept all the students who want to become nurses. That means capable, motivated individuals are being turned away, even as our hospitals and care facilities face staffing shortages. My bill, Senate Bill 998, creates a grant program to support nursing schools so they can expand their programs – whether that’s hiring more instructors, increasing classroom space, or improving training resources. The goal is simple: allow more students to enroll, complete their education, and enter the workforce. By strengthening this pipeline, we can graduate more nurses, improve patient care, and better support our healthcare system across Pennsylvania. This is a practical, commonsense step to invest in our future workforce and ensure we have the healthcare professionals our communities depend on. The bill now moves to the House for consideration. Brown’s Resolution Makes April Distracted Driving Awareness Month in PAI spoke on the Senate floor earlier this week for my resolution making April Distracted Driving Awareness Month in Pennsylvania! As the Prime-Sponsor of the “hands-free” law in Pennsylvania, also known as “Paul Millers Law”, this Resolution is about bringing awareness, changing driving behavior and combatting cell phone use while driving, due to its repetitive, consistent and longer nature of distraction. You can watch my full remarks here. Scenes from the 40th Senate DistrictThis week’s photo is courtesy of Richard from Hamilton Township, with a snapshot of a duck!
