
HARRISBURG – Sen. Rosemary Brown (R-40) is hosting a press event tomorrow, May 6, at 11 a.m. in the East Wing rotunda of the Capitol, located at 501 N. Third Street in Harrisburg, to urge the Pennsylvania General Assembly to pass her lifesaving legislation.
The legislation – which will be reintroduced as Senate Bill 375 from the previous session – would require every school entity or nonpublic school to establish or integrate into their existing emergency plan a sudden cardiac event emergency action plan for all athletic activities, along with CPR training requirements.
Brown will be joined by advocates, stakeholders and members of the Smart Heart Sports Coalition.

- Vince Williams, former linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers,
- Brad Cary, American Heart Association,
- State Rep. Tim Brennan,

- Kathryn Santiago and Isaiah Bangoura,
- Dr. Victoria Vetter, medical director of Youth Heart Watch at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and
- Rachel Moyer, Gregory W. Moyer Defibrillator Fund.
Following the press event, Youth Heart Watch at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia will hold AED use demonstration and hands-only CPR demonstration in a simulation of a sudden cardiac arrest. It will be led by Youth Heart Watch coordinators.
