Brown Announces More than $6.2 Million in State Grants for Local Projects

HARRISBURG – Sen. Rosemary M. Brown (R-40) today announced that more than $6.2 million in state grant funding has been awarded to support vital projects in the 40th Senate district.

“I’m proud to work alongside our local officials, first responders, nonprofit leaders and community partners to secure this critical funding,” said Brown. “These state investments reflect the power of collaboration at every level and working together to strengthen our infrastructure, improve public safety and enhance the quality of life for our residents.”

The Commonwealth Finance Authority’s (CFA) Local Share Account (LSA) program is funded through revenues generated by gaming in Pennsylvania, with grants awarded for projects that advance public interest and community development in eligible counties.

Projects receiving funding include:

  • $509,250 for improvements and expansion of MCTA facilities in Pocono Township
  • $310,950 for refrigeration and technology upgrades at the West End Pantry in Eldred Township
  • $300,000 for Phase II of SR 209 road improvements in Smithfield Township
  • $253,445 for stormwater system rehabilitation in Chestnuthill Township
  • $242,649 for new SCBA units for the Stroud Township Volunteer Fire Department
  • $239,238 for a new park and public works garage in Middle Smithfield Township
  • $236,462 for a new ambulance and equipment for Suburban EMS in Stroudsburg
  • $230,631 to expand the AWSOM Animal Shelter in Stroud Township
  • $220,000 for sewer expansion along SR 209 in Smithfield Township
  • $213,353 to renovate Little Bethel Church in Stroudsburg Borough
  • $200,000 to expand waterline connections on Stroudsmoor Road in Stroud Township
  • $200,000 for drainage improvements on Laurel Lake Road in Pocono Township
  • $200,000 for repairs to the Ann Street Parking Garage in Stroudsburg Borough
  • $175,824 to repair a retaining wall for the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company in Eldred Township
  • $170,000 for a the Recreation Complex in Barrett Township
  • $150,000 for a Public Works maintenance garage project in Mount Pocono Borough
  • $100,500 for lot development in the Sterling Business Park in Sterling Township
  • $100,000 to purchase a dump truck for Madison Township
  • $100,000 to purchase a street sweeper in East Stroudsburg Borough
  • $100,000 for an EMS vehicle and trailer for LVHN in Chestnuthill Township
  • $100,000 to extend sewer connections in Coolbaugh Township
  • $100,000 to purchase EMS power stretchers for Bushkill Emergency Corps in Smithfield Township
  • $90,950 to purchase a transport vehicle for St. Mary’s Villa in Elmhurst Township
  • $90,000 for Phase II of the Municipal Road Improvement Project in Prompton Borough
  • $90,000 for an excavator and brush cutter in Roaring Brook Township
  • $90,000 for repairs to the Historic Stone Arch Bridge in Eldred Township
  • $85,000 to replace the HVAC system at the Masonic Lodge in Hamilton Township
  • $80,000 for radio station equipment for ESU students in East Stroudsburg Borough
  • $80,000 to upgrade a municipal equipment truck in South Canaan Township
  • $75,000 to improve accessibility at the Community/Cultural Center in Smithfield Township
  • $75,000 to purchase a sewer jet machine in Carbondale City
  • $67,700 for streetscape improvements in Olyphant Borough
  • $65,000 for a new police vehicle for the Blakely Police Department in Blakely Borough
  • $60,000 for a public works truck in Delaware Water Gap Borough
  • $59,375 for a new lighting system at Russell Park Field in Carbondale City
  • $56,328 for an emergency rescue vehicle for Blue Ridge Hook & Ladder Company in Hamilton Township
  • $50,000 to construct a turning lane into Greenwood Creek Personal Care Home in Middle Smithfield Township
  • $50,000 for playground renovations at Lakeland Elementary School in Mayfield Borough
  • $50,000 for a new police vehicle for the Mayfield Police Department in Mayfield Borough
  • $50,000 to renovate the roof and pavilion of VFW Post 5544 in Jessup Borough
  • $45,600 to repave Erie Street in Texas Township
  • $43,713 for emergency equipment for the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company
  • $43,444 for portable radios for the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Company
  • $38,000 to replace HVAC systems and windows at American Legion Post 328 in Archbald Borough
  • $37,000 for a Vac Trailer for Water Operations in East Stroudsburg Borough
  • $35,000 to replace doors at the Burn Building Training Facility in Hamilton Township
  • $30,000 for a replacement tractor in East Stroudsburg Township
  • $30,000 for ADA accessibility upgrades at the Eynon Sturges Volunteer Hose Company in Archbald Borough
  • $26,041 for kitchen equipment in Chestnuthill Township
  • $23,100 to restore the Old Township Post Office in Eldred Township
